In this assignment I attempted to try a color splash or color pop. What I did in post production was open the photo in Photoshop, apply a black and white layer mask and if needed I applied a brightness filter. I used the B&W layer mask to select the part that I wanted in color and everything else was in a grey scale. The picture shown were taken all around my house. I would look around my house for anything that looks old and would look good in black and white. Also I looked for anything with ordinary vibrant color.

I this project, we learned how to use levels to brighten or darken an image, use many different ways to select individual spaces, use the clone stamp tool to cover up some reflections and learned the easy way to crop an image. we made the car look darker and more vibrant. we selected the background and removed it by painting black in the selected area. And we selected the windshield and tinted it to darken that as well to not district from the car.
In this weeks assignment I decided to take photos of my rabbit. Like last week, I shot all of these photos in my basement. I used my sliding glass door for my main and only source of light. I used an old chair from IKEA and put my rabbit on the chair. The only way to make him stay put was for me to give him vegetables. It was pretty easy taking pictures of him because he was sitting fairly still and in a perfect position in front of the window. I liked how the trees in the background show through slightly. The trees gave it a little more authenticity because of the woods in the background of the rabbit. If I were to retake these photos, I would move the brown wooded lawn chairs to free up some more space for the woods. I learned that it is a good idea to have him on the left thirds line looking to the right to the open space. It make the photos a lot more satisfying. My option I chose for my Photo assignment was "Still Life". Before I could start shooting my photos, I set up my background by using a half of a ping pong table, folded up and propped up against my wall. I turned off all of my lights in my basement, although having a very large sliding glass door in the afternoon casting soft light didn't help with lighting. I used a small soft box lamp as my source of light. Since it wasn't bright enough by itself, I had to put it on its side and have the exposed top as direct lighting. Although It was very good for lighting in a dark situation, I would have liked to use a softer light. Something more subtle and larger so I don't end up with bright reflections in my selected objects, like the saxophone. I also learned it is better to use an object that isn't so reflective. In this short project it was our classes first time using Photoshop. About half the class and I have used Photoshop before, and for me it was pretty simple. I used my picture I took in Photobooth from the first day of Digital Photography. I tried using one that I had on my phone, but I couldn't get my picture on my computer. We unsharpened the image and used threshold to make the photo just be lack and white. Then we used the "Hue and Saturation" menu to change the colors. then we made the red, green, blue and yellow in one picture to finish it off.
11 Photographs That Show CompositionIn this assignment we were told to compost photographs that fit in the 11 composition techniques, including: Rule of Thirds, Pattern, Symmetry, Texture, Depth of Field, Lines, Faming, Prespective, Space, Balance, and Color. In these photos I took advantage of al three floors of the school and my home. I learned more about the right way to compose a picture and the many different kinds. I learned how to import photos onto a MAC trough Adobe Bridge. I learned how to use Adobe Bridge and how to label and filter out pictures. I learned how to use "Weebly" and create my own website or blog. I really enjoyed this assignment because I fell like it started to get me back into taking photos and how to compose a great photo.
Hello. My name is Aidan Hartman. I am 14 years old and attend Saline High School. I like to play video games on my PC, talk with my friends on Skype, make YouTube videos and take photos. I am on a bowling team with thee of my friends I met when I moved to Michigan in fifth grade.
I took digital photograhy this year because I have some past experiences in multimedia work. I really enjoy taking time to compose a great photo that tells a story. I hope after this class, I will have more of an understanding of composition and post production editing in Photoshop. |
